Godly Play

Godly Play creates meaning through story, wonder, and play. Each Sunday, a teacher tells a Bible story using the Godly Play characters, set pieces and props. Then, the children recreate and retell the same story—or other stories—using the same storytelling elements, so the entire activity becomes a fun, interactive and immersive experience. The stories stick, because the children have made them their own.

The Pray Ground

During Sunday morning worship, children ages 3 and up are invited to join us in the Pray Ground at the front of the Sanctuary. A teacher will lead them through quiet, creative activities such as coloring, using Play-Doh and other items that will relate to that morning’s message. This also teaches them church etiquette and the value of active participation.

At First Pres we believe that children should be seen and heard.

Nursery

Hours: Sunday mornings from 8:45 to 11:45

Our nursery is available to those ranging from newborn to three, and any other kiddos who just need a break. Dana Hanson is our Nursery Coordinator. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Development with a minor in Special Education and is CPR Certified.

Presbys

When: Wednesdays from 5:30 to 7:30 PM in Room 100
Co-Leaders: Stephen Howell and Trish Lawson

This is an open invitation for all youth from 6th to 12th grade to come together, have fun, share a meal, build relationships and deepen your knowledge of and relationship with God. After dinner we’ll engage in thought-provoking discussions, play games and plan our next activities. We are an open and affirming group and are always looking for new members.

The Presbys pursue a variety of mission projects because they love to serve! At Christmas they shop for a local Angel Tree. On a recent Pizza Night they shopped for residents of Lifecare Nursing Home, School for Children and Lakeshore Paws. All Mission Work is driven by their own ongoing, year-long, fund-raising efforts.

The P.I.T. Crew (Presbys in Training)

This newly-formed group invites our younger friends to get involved with all of the Presbys activities. It’s our attempt to bridge the gap and show them all the Presbys have to offer.
