Teamwork!
Now you are the body of Christ and individually members of it. And God has appointed in the church... - 1 Corinthians 12:27-28a
Teamwork makes the dream work!
It's a simple, but accurate phrase. If I were Eugene Peterson working on The Message Bible, this might be the phrase I would use for 1 Corinthians 12. Packed within these six words are grand ideas and invitations to share time and talents, to work alongside God to fulfill a divine dream of a reconciled and whole creation.
It's our ongoing invitation. God's team right here at FPCV has been working toward the dream in glorious fashion, and it is such a blessing to participate in the work!
Recently, an amazing team of FPCV members worked together to host a VBS program full of God's love and grace. It was an opportunity for people of all ages to share their time and talents. Individuals came together to create space for children to explore God's love through lessons, songs, snacks, games, crafts, science experiments, and more. This year's VBS program also inspired our generous community to collect $3,000 to support Kenya REAL. Truly God's Spirit was moving through the team!
Our CE Team is working on an engaging, experiential new Sunday school program that will invite our children, youth, and adults to explore the Christian life through lessons, service, fellowship, and worship. The CE Team will be inviting our church family to help us make the dream work in the days ahead.
Exciting things are on the horizon for our faithful team! The teamwork of our PNC is coming to fruition as we welcome a pastoral candidate to FPCV this weekend. It will be an opportunity to meet the pastoral candidate and their family, to hear a good word on Sunday, and act upon the recommendation of our PNC. We have an opportunity to welcome another gifted member to our team to continue the work that God is calling us to do.
I am continually thankful for the opportunity to be a member of the FPCV Team. FPCV has allowed me to share my time and talents in ministries that I feel called to by God. God has called me to ministries of faith formation and mission; and I am grateful to participate in the ministries of the FPCV Team. We truly are a team of blessed people working toward God's dream. I am looking to the future with hope and enthusiasm as we welcome our pastoral candidate to the pulpit this weekend. With God by our side and the work of the PNC, I am confident our teamwork will make the dream work!
Peace,
Ken
